yesterday at Doc long was a good day for an orienteering meet as there was no threat of rain. A special surprise was that the USFS was also waving all parking fees in the Sandia mountains this weekend.

A long white course was set up.

Many thanks to everyone that attended and also assisted with meet setup. Andrea helped run the registration table while I was out placing controls.

We also had a surprise visitor from the past, Colm Connaughton visited us yesterday.

This is a regular meet with a full range of courses:
white (beginning)
yellow (advanced beginning),
orange (intermediate),
green (advanced) and
red (longer advanced).

The start and finish will be on the east side of Guaje Pines Cemetery.

Beginning courses will be on the Bayo Canyon map and intermediate and advanced courses will be on the Rendija South map. Pre-registration is not required (although if you wish to let us know you are coming, that is fine).

NMO Meet Results Elena Gallegos 3-Apr-10

We had a very good turnout at the Orienteering meet on April 3rd that was held in the Elena Gallegos Openspace area.

This was the first meet in the Albuquerque area this year. All courses were on trail and as expected we had several new people that came out to give it a try.

There is also a report that someone saw our poster that was posted at REI.

Andrea was meet director and I was assisting with control placement and removal.

As soon as I get the meet results I will update this posting to reflect the Results for each course.

Laramie Daze is a week long event consisting of training, training races, and several actual races, including the One Cowboy Relay and the Rocky Mountain Goat. More info to come with the new year. All queries should be directed to mikell (at) wyoming (dot) com

The Rocky Mountain Orienteering Club (RMOC) will host five days of orienteering events as part of the North American Orienteering Festival from Saturday, July 17 through Wednesday, July 21st, 2010. The Rocky Mountain Orienteering Festival (RMOF) events will take place west of Colorado Springs, Colorado near the towns of Florissant and Woodland Park. Camping will be available at the KOA in Buena Vista. Contact Shirley Litasi (slitasi@yahoo.com), RMOC President, if you want to share in a group campsite.
