Welcome!

Mark your calendar and plan to attend. You may even compete. If you are inexperienced at radio-orienteering, this is an opportunity to learn from experts. Because competing involves receiving signals, not transmitting them, competitors need not hold an Amateur Radio license.

Visiting northern New Mexico

Northern New Mexico is a vacation destination year round, and September is early fall, a beautiful season. September weather typically is sunny and dry, warm down in the Rio Grande valley and cool up in the mountains. Fall foliage and fall flowers are abundant. Most people living here are fluent in English, many are fluent also in Spanish, and a significant minority are native speakers of a number of Native American languages in several different language groups. Local agriculture here features chiles, grapes, apples and other orchard fruits; and livestock include poultry, beef, lamb, and buffalo. Game hunting also is important here, and local restaurant menus often feature venison and elk.

History of ARDF international competitions

ARDF is a relatively young form of sport orienteering and as of 2006 the only IARU Region 2 nations represented in ARDF international competition have been the United States and Canada.
